being alive in print
So my chem test was a beautiful mess, but I’m glad it’s over!! I don’t have any real plans for this week because I’m going home on Friday so I’m getting ready for that. I just cleaned my closet and got two giant boxes of clothes to get rid of. Means I can go shopping for more now!! haha and Friday is payday : )
I talked to my niece, Haley, yesterday. She was having a bit of a meltdown because my mom wouldn’t let her watch “Carrie.” Imagine that. So she gets on the phone and is in hysterics and I asked her what she was going to be for Halloween and she calmed right down and told me “Lazytown with pink hair” meaning Stephanie from Lazytown. Now this is really ironic because when she came to Philly, she needed a stroller to go 1/2 a block. We call her lazy Daisy. So I’m really looking forward to going home.
And Kim just got her article published about “Being Alive,” the play we went to. Here it is!

studying for chem again : )
So I’m studying for chemistry again, aka posting : ) This weekend was so nice! I only have one “big” test this week so I didn’t do any work on Friday. My last class was german and that was really fun because we had an exchange teacher from Upper Dublin come and talk to us! She was really funny. We talked about how we are reading a text called “I wish Germans would smile more” and she said, “Oh, me too!” It was a really good conversation. She talked really fast though. Sometimes I got totally lost.
But then I went home and, …, you guessed it! Shopped!! Kim, Morris, and I went to return some things and then we went to A.C. Moore to get more crafts! Then we went bike shopping and I think I finally found one I like! What’s really cool is Temple will give me a free bike lock if I register my bike with them! So then we went to Free Food and Fun Friday bingo night because there were 3 iPods!! And I saw Shardae, a friend from work there, and her friend had to go home so she was there by herself so she sat with us and we played bingo for 3 hours! Morris won 2 DVD’s, a gift certificate to Best Buy, 3 free movie rentals, and more.
Here’s Kim and I at the very early in the night. This is when we were trying to win tickets the the Pretty Wild things tour with Gym Class Heroes, Fall Out Boy, Plain White T’s and Cute is what we aim for. Now FOB (Fall Out Boy) is my kind of second favorite band. It’s technically my favorite, but I just can’t say that because I feel like I’m cheating on my number one, The Used. Yeah, I know it’s drama. Anyway, here’s us calling or posing or something : )

Me posing with my bingo card…

Morris and Kim. They do this a lot. I don’t know why.

And me giving Kim a ring I made her out of a Starburst and twisty tie.

Then Saturday we went to see Saw IV! Besides the fact that two people sat in the seat next to me and then moved into my seat leaving me with a really bad neck ache, it was pretty fabulous. I spent most of the time hiding under my coat but whatever. I also have to admitt that I think that the Saw series is so sad, I cried for III and IV. And not even trickling tears, but I broke down. I’m pretty emo.
Here’s Kim playing Lord of the Rings pinball after!

So then we went home and as I’m walking through the door, something comes out from the wall right at me and scares me to no end. Now remember, I had just seen Saw, so imagine what was going through my head. I was expecting to see someone in a pig mask come out and get me. But it was just darling little potatoes, pictured to the left.

And then Sunday I buckled down to learn chemistry, which I’m getting back to now : )
being alive
Last night Kim and I had tickets to the musical “Being Alive” in the city at the Susanne Roberts Theater. It was really cool because it was opening night for the musical, and the entire theater! It was the first performance ever there. Kim got tickets through her internship at HX magazine so it was free, even better : )
Here’s us “getting ready”

babies
So my nephew is turning 2 on November 4th and I’m really excited about going home to see my family and all of the kids!! So here are some pics of the kids, just so you can get aquainted with them : )
This is Michael Ryan. I gave him his middle name, which is also what I wrote my Temple essay on. He’s six and is my favorite. He’s a cub scout, martial artist, baseball player, and video game player extraordinaire. When he was wee little I was Aunt Tranquilizer, meaning I could put him to sleep no matter what. Not so much anymore, but this is him. He’s also going through a rough time with his best friend, Alex. They’re not in the same class anymore so they don’t get to spend as much time together. Really sad. Also one time Alex was sleeping over and I heard them fighting. When I asked them what the problem was, apparently Michael wanted to watch the Menu screen and Alex wanted to watch the Food Network.

This is Haley. She’s 4 and is a total drama queen. This summer she came to Philly to go to the zoo and she asked one of the workers how much the pig cost because she wanted to buy it and take it home. I think the only reason she likes pigs is because they’re pink. I also got her a pig that flips and she loves it. She just started headstart and is convinced her name is “Hot35.” One time she was playing school with baby Cailou (a doll from the Cailou show, not an actual baby) and Cailou fell at recess and passed away later that day. She then went outback with a shovel where she was determined to bury him but my mom refused to let her dig up the yard. She has a very active imagination.

This is Jake (Shakers, Shakob, or Janet), the one turning 2. He’s a monster. He will destroy anything. Also he is a big fan of talking on the phone but he doesn’t “talk,” so it just turns into me going “oh, nice!!” and him just jabbering away. He’s the life of any party too : ) He’s shy as anything too!! One time I got him a ball from a crane machine and he fell right off of the couch from pure excitement!

I got Mikey this shirt, but now it’s Shakers. One time I called him Shakers in front of Haley and she said, “His name isn’t Shakers, it’s Shakob.”

And I don’t have any pictures of Abigail right now so I’ll put some up later.
not a runner
So I’ve been running lately to compliment my participation in the IBC Body Comp challenge and I just saw this and I love it. Last time I was at the IBC I ran 2.5 miles in 25 minutes but last night Morris and I went to the track and I could only do 1.25 & was struggling. I’m not good with pacing myself, but then again, a treadmill’s a lot different than track running : )
APOLOGY
To anyone that recieved comments from me on Thursday between 8-6. I had class all day and someone logged on under my name and started leaving people comments that certainly are not what I think. If anyone knows how to delete these comments that “I” left, please send me a message and let me know how to. My email is owlamanda@temple.edu because I do not think that you can send personal messages on this. And if you’re logging into my account please stop. Thanks so much.
catching up
So this last week has been crazy busy! So day by day update:
Thursday
I had a really fun lab groups. We were using all sorts of chem jargon and it was actually really fun. And my geology lab was on earthquakes with was super fun! My math class got out early so I went to my work office & gossiped with my girl Monica. Then that night I went to the Reel to see Harry Potter. It was so good!! I love Snape. He’s so funny. But anyway, I went with my BFF4N4E (best friend for never for ever) that I met here at college, Tomi K, Morris, and Kim. I was kind of upset because now the mega Reel deal is $3, not $2.75. But it was still super cheap!!
Here’s me and Tomi. I’m jumping in the back!

and here’s me by the HP poster. Tomi wouldn’t be in the picture. Apparently he’s too cool.

Friday:
Kim, her friend Cassie, Morris and I were going to Cherry Hill to see Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D. It was sold out when we got there. But here’s some pics!!
The theatre

Morris and Kim

Me, Kim, and Cassie

Me, Kim, and Cassie, but this time I was upset about something : )

So then we got back to the house and decided to go see Transformers at the Reel. Again, super cheap, and really funny. I was so worried about Bumblebee!!!!!
Saturday
I had work and after that I studied like I’ve never studied before. Previously I found out through the Environmental Club that Temple Police give you a free bike lock so I went bike shopping but didn’t find one I liked. So I ended up buying things I didn’t need but it was still fun!!
Sunday
I needed some major shopping therapy at Franklin Mills. It was amazing. I got an $8 Temple hoodie, a vest, a jacket I’ve been looking for, headbands, and soooo much more!! I went with Morris, Kim, and Steph, one of my old roommates.
Someone asked us where something was and we didn’t know. But then Kim found a map and chased them down. Here’s a pic of Kim coming back!

And Morris found a pretty sweet Brokeback jacket which I later bought at a movie stand.

It’s so him.
And then I studied into the night.
And that was my week since last update ![]()
oh yeahhhhh….
I forgot to mention that temple is on a 2 game winning streak. Way to go Owls!!
Cute story: my mom talked to the pepsi guy that delivers to her store one day. She asked him about a Temple owl bobble head she saw with a pepsi logo and he said that they were promo and that there weren’t any left. But then the next time he came back he found the last one for her! And I got an Al Golden bobble head that as soon as i get home will sit next to my temple owl bobble head and Steve Irwin (r.i.p.) bobble head. And my mom started all of the bobble head stuff, I just go along with it : ) Woo go owls!!
sick day
So yesterday I was trés sick & barely made it to my geology test (which was sooo much fun, I’m such a dork for loving tests). I had to call off work and not go to german but I did live it up sick style. I stayed in bed & watched the Price is Right, which aired for the first time with Drew Carey. Being an alum of the show, I must say I was not impressed at all. The girl that fell was kind of funny, but Carey’s jokes were off. I’ll spare you any pics of me being sick, if you can think of what Grendel looks like in Beowulf, I’m about 10 times worse. But I lived yesterday up in bed & other than being stressed from missing class, work, and running, I’m better : )
Tonight I’m helping my old roommate make a myspace for her internship. I’ll post the like later so you can add it as a friend!
comfy, cozy, & crafty :)
So this weekend I took off from schoolwork (which means now at 11 on a sunday I have yet to touch a book) & took time for what I wanted to do. It started on friday after my german class I went to hang out with my old friends from the social work major. They were having a bake sale in the student center so I went and bought a raffle ticket. As I was walking home Amanda, my one friend, not me, called me to tell meI won the raffle. So I headed back to get my giant basket, smile, wave at adoring fans and leave again. Here’s what I got. It’s kind of ironic that I got a SSA shirt considering I’m not in the major anymore. It was not a very flattering picture so I cropped myself out of it. Anyway, here it is:

So then I did a continuation of my shopping therapy and went shopping all over south philly with Kim and Morris. We ended up at target where I bought my friend Ashley something for her birthday party I was going to that night. It was a blast! Basically all of my friends from freshman year all in one place, couldn’t beat it! I didn’t take many pictures. But here are some!
This is Dani, me, & Josh. Freshman year we took a crazy walk in from temple to UPenn and Drexel and it was phenomenal. Josh ripped his pants which was a highlight considering we walked the 3 miles back to temple at 2:30, with his pants torn.

So, the glow in the dark bracelets that we are modeling here was something I got Ashley! That and a strobe light. you know that party started to look like a rave!!! haha

Stover and I proposing to the birthday girl. If you look closely there’s some nice polaroids of myself ontop of whatever that thing is behind me.

Andrea and I being irresistable : )

So that’s that. I had to leave early because I had work but after I got home I from work at 2:00 I started a 1000 piece puzzle and watched more Heroes. It’s starting to get really good. So I basically did that all day. Seriously. Then today I woke up and finished the puzzle at 7 at night. It was rough. But I watched all three Saw movies and something else. But it’s finished!! I’m framing it and it’s going to be one part of my mom’s bday present.
Here’s me, unshowered because I was so determined to finish, with my puzzle.

& after that was finished I cleaned my room. That included the birds. T have three birds; Seven, Green Golbin, and Maggie. Seven’s really sweet, Green Goblin has his dramatic moments, but Maggie is just mean. She’s a bitter. But anyway, the birds needed their wings clipped so I got to it and Green Goblin, no matter how many times i look for blood feathers, always bleeds. It’s something I can always count on. One time maggie started a fight and he bled pretty bad. So I had to take care of him and now he’s mad at me which I totally don’t blame him for. But I did get them a new toy so they should be okay by the morning : )
Here’s the birds. Seven is the white and blue one, Green Goblin is the green one on the perch, and Maggie is the one being a nancy in the corner.

And one last thing I managed to do this weekend is get get sick. so I’m goint to bed now. sweet dreammmms!
