Hi everyone! My name is Amanda. I’m starting this blog to let you know what my life is like here in Philly. So first, about me. I am a junior at Temple University, former Social Work major but recently switched to Geology and could not be happier! Here is me playing on some rocks in Fairmount Park. As you can tell I wasn’t expecting to be doing that when I was getting dressed.

And I am minoring in German. I’m from Sunbury, Pa, a quaint little city in central Pa known for the Sqeeze-In restaurant (seats only 4 people, thus the name) and also a sign by OIP (my favorite restaurant!!) that reads, “On this site in 1917, nothing happened.” I have some pretty strong likes and dislikes, capitalization being a dislike so probably after this post there won’t be much more of it. I love autumn so I am completely happy right now. Just the other week myboyfriend Morris, his roommate Sean, and I went to Linvilla Orchards in Media and it was amazing!

I’m on the right, Sean is in center, and Morris is on the right. It was kinda fun
We’re going back again to do hayrides and cider by a campfire.
I’m also a vegetarian and have been for almost 5 years I think. Whenever I started working at Burger King. Nothing against them, some of my favorite memories are from working at BK, just not my type of thing anymore. But I will still right about the best places to eat! Just this last weekend my mom and dad came to Philly to hang out and we went to Joe’s, a place on South Street. It’s the birthplace of Larry from the 3 Stooges so that was my dad’s part of the trip! But it was soooo good!! The only reason I didn’t eat it all was because my dad wanted a to go bag with Larry’s face on it. Anywayyyyy…..
I am very family oriented. I miss my family a lot. But I wasn’t really home at all in the last two years. I stayed in Philly to work both Winter and Summer breaks so I can’t wait to go home for Christmas!! I have one sister and her name is Adrianne, like in Rocky, and she has 4 kids that are wonderful! In order oldest to youngest: Michael, 6, he’s the brainiac but afraid of peacocks because of when we went to the zoo when he was 2, Haley, 4, who spells her name “Hot53,” Jake, 2.5, the one too cute that he never gets in trouble, and Abigail, .8, who I don’t know too much because I’m not home a lot.
So I live in a house a few blocks away from Temple. It’s really fun! Kim, my one housemate, has two cats: Meatloaf and Potatoes. Potatoes came about in a funny way. Kim, a natural born cat lover, wanted a second cat because all Meatload did was cry. So she sent me a link to a cat on craigslist and I laughed and went about my day. Then on that weekend I was like “oh I don’t care if you get a cat” and she was in my car faster than you could imagiiiinne to go get little Potatoes. On our way to PAWS, the adoption agency, we got stuck in the Puerto Rican parade. This to me was quite humorous because all of the years that I have been in Philly, I’ve always seen the parade. And my best from home, Madi, who is Puerto Rican, always promises she’ll come down but never does. Anyway, back to Potatoes. We got stuck in all sorts of traffic but it was really fun because people were going crazy. Like there were people hanging out of cars and giant flags duct taped to really nice cars, it was madness. So we get to the shelter and pick out Potatoes but meanwhile I see the sweetest little Pekingese dog ever but luckily for me, she was already adopted. I can’t afford a dog, nor will my mom care for it when I go to Germany next summer.
So I know this a lot for a first post. I still have to figure everything out so this could be real amatuer looking for awhile.
