break stuff
So I loooove Christmas break for so many reasons First and probably most important is I get to spend time with friends and family, which is my favorite thing. Next is shopping. But then there’s working to get money to shop, and can I just mention how much I love working at BK? Well, I am.
I love how close you are to everyone. Like yesterday this guy, Bobby and I kept on hitting each other. And it was super awkward. But it got us to start talking and now we’re friends. And then I’ve also been there since I was 16 so that means I know just about everything and everyone there so it’s nice to go back and see all of those faces again.
And possibly my favorite thing is being sassy. Now there are very few jobs when you can say the things we do and get away with it. At least those people that have been there for two or more years can. Like this one kid Tim and I were insulting each other so bad but it was okay. People are just so chill. And then this other guy, Dana (yeah a guy) came in to do all the closing stuff. Tim then said something like, “If I had to do this stuff anywhere else, I don’t know what I’d do,” and Dana replied, “You could model bras,” and it’s stuff like that which makes working there fun. Never take sassyness (not so sure about the spelling) for granted. It makes life great.
So that’s all I really got to say. Besides working 40 hour weeks I’ve just been chilling, getting ready for Christmas, teaching Xerces tricks, hanging out with friends, the basics. To all of those that celebrate Christmas, enjoy, and all of those that don’t, enjoy your time off!
$%^Q&*!
So “Home Sweet Home” was a very long post about the last few days before leaving and being home. Unfortunately, because I was on my dad’s computer and it is probably older than him, it didn’t post. Bummer.
So basically I’m home in Sunbury working at Burger King, hanging out with old friends, and having family time.
But today I’m a little frustrated. Why you ask?? Good question. So all semester I busted my (cough) to get reaaaalllly good grades (really to replicate my last 4.0) and I was 99.99% sure I did. But then I check my grades today and somehow I got a B- in calc. How do you go from a 94.9% to a B-?? Some wonderful professor is getting an email.
But then again, I am just overreacting and it’s not that big of a deal. But I really worked hard this semester. Especially having no easy classes, it was rough. But whatever, fun stuff.
Xerces is sleeping next to me making this super creepy noise he does when he sleeps. Kinda sounds like a funhouse clown that you would see from “Are you afraid of the Dark?”
BK is really good. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s fun. Time goes by really quick, you get to talk alllllll the time, and you get to see all these people that you forgot about. Like my friend Jed came in today and last time I heard from him, he was in Iraq. Now he’s at BK. And he left his number on my car again. I think I have five other ones from him in my glovebox. And I’m working with one of my kind of BFF’s Bob who has a degree in Forestry and he says I can “intern” with him this summer when I get back from Ireland. It’ll be a good time.
But with the good comes the bad which is the girl that thinks she’s about 100% better that everyone. I think there’s one person like that in every job I have ever had. But whatever. Karma gets them. Like the one at BK just got attacked by a dog and has a big scratch on her nose that people stare at. And because she’s too good to work in the back making sandwhiches, she has to work around customers. A little lesson in Karma everyone
So tonight I was supposed to go with some friends to see some movie, I have no idea which one or cared to seeing as how the HotRod (nickname for my friend Rodney) was going to pay for me but The Biggest Loser finale was on so I couldn’t miss that! It’s crazy how much everyone changed. Just phenomenal. Kae’s my favorite though. She’s from Jersey and went to Rutgers. I’m not a stalker at all kids….
So I know I’m just rambling so here’s the point. GPA is not worth stressing out about. Unless you go an academic warning.
The final final! (sung like the final countdown. cute, yeah?)
So I’m at one final left. It’s a nice feeling.
So now that there are no classes or work, life is very spontaneous. Like yesterday Kim went to a final and when she came back she treated us to Olive Garden! Now, she did this because she is a very smart girl. She bought her Psych book online and then sold back to the bookstore for a profit of $50. I’m not really sure why she’s an english major, sound more like business, but either way I got Olive Garden!
Now us in this situation is of course me, Morris, and his old roommate Sean. Now Sean was over because I bought Morris Rockband for Christmas and Mr. I-can’t-wait-for-Christmas had to go and open it and play so Sean stopped by to play too. And he didn’t have work so it was really nice to actually hang out for once this semester.
So here’s my favorite picture of the night!!

So as you may know from reading this, we went to Olive Garden for my birthday too. And Morris suprised me with a cake. And it was so good, we wanted some again! So Sean went to the bathroom and we told our waitress it was his birthday and they sang and gave him a cake. This is him looking suprised. Thankfully, he’s not a theater major : )
The walk back to my car (p.s. Don’t ever try to park in the city, it took me 45 minutes to find a spot):
Here’s some real nice marble:

A Church of Scientology! And no, Tom was not there. Btw, did anyone see Katy’s new hair cut? So cute!

And then we went to Best Buy so I could get Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, because I forgot it was out.
And I’ve been studying/playing Rockband since. Actually, that’s not true. Xerces was due for some shots so we took him to the PSPCA. We also has some donations to drop off so it worked out really nice. And he’s been mopey since he got his shot, he’s a wreck! Like we can’t pet him or he yelps and he won’t fetch. But I did give him some spaghetti that he wolfed down!
finals week
So this is finals week. I decided the thing I like most about Temple is study days. It’s like an extended weekend. It’s 100% fabulous.
So before I was a geology major I was a social work major and finals were kind of a joke in the final being a paper that you worked on all semester. Well now there are these wonderful cumulative ones (thanks science and technology!) and I wish I could tell you I was studying all weekend, but lets be real. It just didn’t happen.
So on Friday, Kim, Morris, and I had some friends over for a dinner. It was super cute! It was my first time hosting something “formal” so it was a lot of fun. I had my old roommate Laura over, her boyfriend, and my bff4e4n (best friend for ever for never) Tomi K over. Morris invited his old roomate and another friend and Kim invited Megan who will be in Rome this spring but living with us next year.
I was in charge of the ham. And one thing you should know about me is a vegetarian. My ham smelled so good I was about to change my ways. And I made stuffing muffins which were a big hit.
Some pics from the very beginning of the night and end. I kinda missed the middle a bit (you can tell by the outfit change).
Laura and I.

Tomi and I.

I’m pretty sure I was on my tiptoes. And I know you’re like, “where is everyone else? Only two people came? What a loser,” and you’re navigating away from my page right now, but I swear there were others. Promise. And shortly after people started to leave I passed out and didn’t wake up until 10ish the next day. It was glorious.
The next day Morris and I took our recyling to campus. Now I love recycling. It gives me such a rush!! (navigating away agian, I know it) So I piled my car up and went off to find the good old(e) recycling dumpster. I was happy to find it overflowing. The really cool thing about this is the club my roommate was president of got this on campus, so I feel kind of V.I.P. recyling there. Here it is, as interesting as can be.

It’s so blurry because of Temple’s stadium lighting and the fact that I was shivering pretty bad. I couldn’t take the picture with my flash because you couldn’t see anything. You can tell Peter Griffin is very influential in recycling for college kids.
So ever after all of that, I wish I could say I studied, but sadly no. Steve and Barry’s was having a $10 jean sale (which I might have already mentioned) but I had to hit that up for a third time. And then the most amazing thing happened…
So I’m about the coolest gf ever and whatever the bf wants, within reason, he gets. Well, he realllly wanted Rockband for his xBox 360 but then it broke so I was like, “sorry dude, not going to do you much good now,” but Microsoft is fixing it free so I had to start the search again and we found the last one at Franklin Mills, in Philadelphia quite possibly, and it’s his X-mas/Bday present. I’m so proud of myself! And I’m the DD, designated drummer. : )
And then, we took little Xerc to the pet store just for the fun of it and we saw these girls:

who I’m pretty sure I was not supposed to take a picture of, and they only cost $2599 a dog! And Morris loooves bulldogs (you can see the calendar behind my head in the first pic of this post) so I was like, “whatever my bf wants, he gets,” but this was not within reason so we got Xerc and shirt and peaced out. Haha did I have anyone going??
And to finish off, here’s me and my baby playing on the couch. This was one of the less rowdy moments:

end of classes!!!
So yesterday was the last day of classes and it was wonderful! I had my geology class, german class, work, and then chemistry. And chem made me really mad because on Tuesday we had a test on chapters 7-9 and then on Wednesday we had a test on chapter 10, which we didn’t go over too heavily in class. It was frustrating. But it’s over now!!
To celebrate the last day, Kim, Morris, and I went to the women’s basketball game against Kent State. I love going to the women’s games for two reasons: 1.) to see Dawn Staley, the coach and 3 time Olympic gold medalist, and 2.) Lady Comfort. What a great name. So we won and then we also got tickets to the Temple vs. Duke game! Now I just need tickets to the Temple vs. Penn game!

Now the reason you don’t see anyone in the stands is because that is Kent State’s side.
That’s Lady Comfort.

I have no idea what is going on in this picture…

And later today I have a work party and then I’m taking Xerces to Monster Pets so he can pick out a new bone and we can try some clothes on him so he has something to wear for the holiday : ) He’s so handsome! Kim, Morris, and I also planned a little dinner for some friends tomorrow so we need to get some last minutes stuff for that too!
my birthday weekend
Hi! So this weekend was absolutely insane! It was my birthday weekend (December 1st!) so I kept super busy!! On Friday after classes Morris and I went to Franklin Mills mall. Now Franklin Mills is about the number one place to shop for me because it’s all outlets. Yeah. It rocks. So we shopped forever and then came back home. Now I didn’t really have anything planned for my birthday concretely so we just made it up as we went. So when we got back we walked little Xerces over to Tristan video on campus and rented Ratatouille.
Here’s Tristan.

And Temple at night. It’s soooo bright!

Xerces in his “cape”/vest. He’s getting some fat rolls : (

and me and the Xercs in leaves.

So when we got back I had to try on this onesie I bought. Now here’s the story to that:
I was walking around target and I saw it out of the corner of my eye. It was beautiful: an adult sized onesie. So I look at the tag and it’s on sale. That settled that purchase. So I get home and I try it on but alas, it’s not an adult 10/12, it’s a little girl 10/12. Well, I was still determined to wear it so I did get it on. It really does help that I’m about five foot nothing. So then I had to do the signature jumping pictures. But the only reason I’m putting this picture up is because of Xerces looking adorable. Other than that, this picture is really quite embarassing.

So then like always, I fell asleep while watching the movie but when I woke up Kim had a cake ready for me! It was my favorite kind too (funfetti with funfetti icing)! She got me the kind of candles that relight too and it was so funny! First they started to spark and I thought that was all pretty but then when I tried to blow them out they just wouldn’t and if they did go out they re-lit. I was so confused. And then I ate a giant piece and fell back asleep.
Then Saturday was the big birthday day!! Morris made me breakfast in bed (which really suprised me) and I was still in my sleepy, I-need-to-hit-the-snooze-button-three-mroe-times-before-I-can-function state so I don’t really remember to much of that. But then we got around and went to Olive Garden in the city.
Walking to campus to go to the ATM:

The Subway ride:

And Olive Garden was delicious! And super funny. So you know how at some restaurants, when people order the 72 ounce steak, the wait staff sings? I’m just going to assume you do. Well, I went to bathroom and came back and all of the sudden I hear people singing and I was like, “Oh no, who did it?” and then they came to my table with a little cake with candles!! I was so taken aback! Now I thought it was just that I had told our waitress that it was my birthday but it was actually Morris again! Suprise number two of the day!
Here’s me and my cake, as soon as I was done being red.

And after that we went walking around the city and did a little shopping. The main shopping was the Gallery, a three story shopping complex, a.k.a. my dream place! We went to Old Navy and I got the same coat Kim has, and it’s okay because it was my birthday!
Here’s Kim and I walking around the city:

Then we were getting ready to go back to campus so that I could go with some other friends and we saw the tree up at City Hall so we had to take more pictures!

I’m not really sure who is in this picture. So we were going down to the subway and we came across this:

They were all just sleeping and hanging out. And then we get down to the train and the transit security stands right next to Kim in her little cubby that she sat in and Kim’s reaction was so funny! She just kept making faces and I would laugh really hard and then the security would turn and look at Kim who was straight faced. It was classic! I had to pretend I was taking a picture of my shoe to get this pic.

So then I got ready for a second time to go out with my coworkers to Dolche, a place in Old (or Olde depending on your preferences) City. It was really cute. I got the Gnocchi duo and it was delicious! I’ll add pictures later, I don’t have any with me now.
And after dinner there, I went back to campus to see my old roommate. She made me a bundle of sticks and it was so cute!! She cut and old T-shirt and made a strap for it and then put sage in it so if I ever lost it, I could smell it and find it! How clever!! She’s the best. Here we are, being us:

and one with her face:

We both look like demons but whatever, it was a good time.
And then from there, I picked up on of my coworkers that was still on campus and we headed to Stovers house in the city and hung out. Another good time! When I got home from there though, Kim had finished our fireplace. It’s pretty sweet.

Realistic, right?
And then it was bed time because I was very tired.
But then Sunday, Kim and I went back to Franklin Mills because of Steve and Barry’s ten dollar pants sale. I have so many pants now, I’m very happy. And then when we got back home many hours later, I studied for my chemistry test that I have on Tuesday. That means I’m not doing anything fun today :( But in my German class it’s my “birthday party” and I made cupcakes with the German flag on it. The only problem is that my red never made red, instead pink, and I couldn’t get black so it’s dark blue. An interesting interpretation : )
